Feliz Año

I took advantage of the gorgeous weather to have a great bike ride with my brother who is visiting for a few months. I never get tired of these rural roads and city streets.

New Pedestrian & Bike Bridge over Nuevo Cauce

I seldom ride in this part of Valencia simply because there isn’t much there but grim industrial zones, but the bike infrastructure is top notch. I am truly heartened by our new mayor’s total commitment to ushering bikes into the transportation model of Valencia. There are bike lanes linking all of the neighboring towns in this area to the south of the city. I also noticed quite a few small links around the center of Valencia that make life a lot easier for cyclists. Some of these new paths are only a few hundred meters long, but make cycling infinitely safer.

Valencia is All In For Pedestrians and Cyclists

This is the new plan to make Calle Guillem de Castro a pedestrian zone with only one lane for cars. There are a lot of historic landmarks along the street (The Quart Towers are visible in the center background). There is a good bike land already on the left side of this drawing.

Bookending the above project is this plan for Calle Xátiva which runs past the Plaza de Toros and the train station, both historically significant structures. Once again, only one lane for motorized traffic, with two lanes for buses and taxis. Suck it, drivers.
