Piano Practice: Shelter from the Shit Storm

I sit in a café to write on many afternoons. There’s a radio playing top forty hits on a constant loop, los cuarenta, as the ditty promises over and over throughout the hour. This station plays some of the most godawful excuses for music that I’ve ever been forced to hear in my life. If I’m even a little careless with hygiene, I’ll find myself with the malignant virus of one of these dreadful songs playing in my head,

Much like how we are instructed to wash our hands and use sanitizer when making contact with any potentially infected surface, I must repeat a similar process to flush the remains of one of these shitty songs from my psyche. I do this by sitting down at my piano before I go to bed and playing something, anything in my modest repertoire, even scale training will suffice, as these exercises have more to do with music than the hate crimes against art passing for pop hits that had rained down on me in the café

Once Again, Democracy Prevails in the United States of America

Trump's campaign manager letting off a little steam.

In unrelated but thought-provoking news.

The America election process has been compared to a coup d'etat every four years, but without any violence. This election was no different, despite warnings of armed protests. For the most part, the crowds were joyous.

I’m glad to see that there doesn’t seem to be a lot of gloating or spite in the Biden/Harris victory celebration, that people seem more about enjoying the win and not bad-mouthing the current White House resident. After all, over 70 million people voted against Biden, which in any previous U.S. election would have been enough for a resounding triumph…just not this time.

It hasn’t ever happened before, but is Trump capable of one half-way classy move in his life, like conceding gracefully?

I wonder how long it will take for ultra-right conservatives to invent some crisis which they can use to bludgeon the new President? Like they did with Obama which they called the Tea Party. Remember? It was all about the debt, a topic they haven’t said a word about in the four years of this administration.

Election 2020: The Hangover

I realize that in our silly system, the popular vote means very little (something I have a hard time explaining to European friends), but a four million vote advantage for Biden puts to rest any doubt about the will of the American people.
